      MR. E. MAXWELL

      Member Of Old Legal Firm In Hobart

      After having taken a prominent part in the legal life of Hobart since the concluding years of last century, Mr. Eustace Maxwell died at his residence, Proctors Rd., Sandy Bay, yesterday.

      Mr. Maxwell was a member of the firm of Roberts and Allport, one of the oldest legal businesses in Australia, After having served his articles with the firm, Mr. Maxwell was admitted to the Bar In 1888. For some years he was a member of the firm of Chapman and Maxwell, and in 1899 he entered partnership with the firm of Roberts and Allport. He retired a short time ago.

      Mr. Maxwell was a son of the late Mr. C. M. Maxwell, and was a brother of the late Mr. C. J. Maxwell, formerly manager of the Commercial Bank of Tasmania, which was acquired by the E., S. and A. Bank.

      A prominent member of the Break-o'- Day Cricket Club, Mr. Maxwell gained inclusion in State teams, and was a regular player in North v. South matches.

      Mr. Maxwell was a member of the Tasmanian Club. He was not married. The funeral will take place at the Crematorium Chapel, Cornelian Bay, at 10a.m. tomorrow.
