  MR. E. A. BELLETTE Sorell Farmer and Boer war Veteran Mr. Ernest Aylmer Bellette, of Geilstone Park, Lindisfarne, whose death occurred recently, was the last surviving member of the family of nine children of the late Mr. Frederick Bellete, of Sorell, whose father was one of the free settlers in that district at the beginning of the 19th century (writes our travelling correspondent). Born at Sorell in 1872, Mr. Ernest Bellette followed farming operations until his enrolment as one of the 129 members of the First Tasmanian Imperial Bushmen's contingent, which left Hobart in the troopship Manhattan on April 28, 1900, for service in the Boer War, South Africa, under Major R. C. Lewis.  The contingent rendered good service, and 62 members, including Farrier Bellette, returned to Melbourne in the Britannic, thence to Launceston in the Coogee, and by special train to Hobart, where they arrived on August 1, 1901, and were accorded a civic welcome. After his return from the Boer War Mr. Bellette engaged in mixed farming pursuits at Oak Farm, Cherry Tree Opening, near Sorell, and Bay View, a portion of the Penna estate, Sorell, which had been subdivided.  In April, 1937, he retired, and bought Geilstone Park.  He was a successful farmer. Mr. Bellete married Miss Elizabeth (Jean) Gregson, of Buckland, who survives him.  Of their family of six, five are living - Mesdames C. Longman (Hobart), c. Hilder (Dover), R.
