  Obit - John Falconer Chisholm Jun 1939 Hobart, Tasmania, Australia OBITUARY. Well-Known Hobart Coachbuilder. Mr John Falconer Chisholm, whose death occurred at Hobart on Monday, was for many years a leading coachbuilder of Hobart. He was a partner in the firm of Vout and Chisholm, and carried on business in Argyle St., in premises now occupied by City Motors. He retired from business about 10 years ago. In his early days Mr Chisholm took an active interest in the military, and was a sergeant in the Southern Tasmanian artillery detachment under the command of the late Col. T. Evans. He later transferred to the Field battery under the command of Col. T. Spencer, in which he held the rank of battery sergeant. After his retirement from the military he received an honorary commission as lieutenant. He also took a keen interest in Masonic activities. He was a native of Scotland. Mr Chisholm, who was 78 years of age, is survived by his wife and a family of one son (Donald), and two daughters (Misses Jeannie and Bonnie). The funeral will arrive at Cornelian Bay Cemetery at 10.30 a.m. tomorrow (Mercury (Hobart), Wed 21 Jun 1939, p9). jeanffrench originally shared this on 17 jul 2017
