  AUSTRALIANS HONOURED. COLONEL GIBLIN, C.B. Lieutenant-Colonel Wilfred Wanostrocht Giblin of the Australian Army Medical Corps who has been made a Companion of Bath is only 43 years of age, and received his first commission in the Tasmanian Infantry Regiment in 1896. He was promoted captain in the same year and a major of the A.A.M.C. in 1903, receiving his step in 1907 when he was appointed P.M.O. for the sixth (Tasmania) military district. Colonel Giblin left here as officer in command in command of the 1st Clearing Hospital. Dr, Wilfred Giblin DR. WILFRED GIBLIN,who died at Hobart early yesterday morning at the age of 79, was well known to members of the First A.I.F.He was appointed Director-General of Medical Services in Tasmania at the outbreak of the First WorldWar and later commanded the first casualty clearing station at Gallipoli. After Gallipoli he returned to London as medical adviser at Australian Headquarters. He was made a Commander of the Order oft he Bath soon afterwards.When he returned to Tasmania he was appointed Deputy Director of Medical Services. Dr. Giblin, who was a general practitioner, carried on his work at Hobart fo rmore than 50 years.He was a past president of the Tasmanian Club and a member of several societies.His wife died some years ago. He leaves two sons, Dr. T. Giblin and Mr. Edward Giblin, and two daughters, Mesdames H. Bridge and W. Armitage.
