- Warren was Rector of Boxford about the year 1700and had two sons, Thomas who succeeded him at Boxford from 1721-1735 and John who became a Solicitor at Long Melford.
Arms—Arg,a fesse chequy or and azure between three Talbots passant sable. (Warren).
Crests.
(1) A demi greyhound ermine collared chequy or and azure.
(2) On a mount vert a lion rampant or supporting a- spear erect gules headed or
Parsonage Farm; Boxford Rectory
Straight piece of water with slightly expanded ends on the E side of Parsonage Farm (formerly Boxford Rectory). Possible originally one arm of a rectangular moat around the parsonage house, but converted into an ornamental canal by the Rev John Warren, Rector of Boxford 1683-1721, as noted by his son and successor, Rev Thomas Warren in 1723: 'On the East of it (the parsonage house) buts upon a Green Walk bounded by a Canal of a great length & well stocked with fish; and made by late incumbent in place, where before was nothing but a foul stinking ditch'. In 1735 the Rev Thomas Warren refers to 'ye Green Walk adjoyning to the moat' (S1) (S2).
