      SAMUEL CLEMES
      STORY OF HIS LIFE.
An interesting booklet on Samuel Clemes, long associated with the Friends' School and Leslie House School, Hobart, was written by the late Mrs. I. Mary Shoobridge. A frontispiece of Samuel and Margaret Clemes makes a suitable opening to a historical outline of the family, ending with a concise yet vivid account of the life of Samuel Clemes. From early youth to missionary work In Madagascar, thence back to England, and finally to Hobart, the writer traces a career whose latter part impressed itself on the educational life of Tasmania, and Hobart particularly. There is a lot of information of a personal nature, and short accounts of the various links of the Clemes family. To all old scholars of Clemes College, and to all associated with the institution, this booklet is likely to prove highly attractive.
