HOBART FAMILIES UNITED - Another wedding at St. David's Cathedral on Wednesday last was that of Miss Bessie Crisp (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Vernon Crisp), and Mr. Ian Maxwell (son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Maxwell), both families of Lower Sandy Bay. The bride and bridegroom are seen descending the chancel steps after their marriage.

      WOMEN'S REALM

      Maxwell-Crisp

A pretty wedding was celebrated at St. David's Cathedral, Hobart, on Wednesday night last, when Bessie Emma, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Vernon Crisp, of Mornington, Lower Sandy Bay, Hobart, was married to Ian Maxwell, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Maxwell, Main Rd., Lower Sandy Bay.
The petite dark-haired bride entered the church with her father, her picture gown of rich ivory satin gleaming in the lamplight, while an exquisite cen- tury-old lace veil, lent by a friend, fell from a coronet-diadem of orange blos- som, which had been worn by her grandmother Mrs. Fred Crisp. The veil was mounted over tulle, and one corner of it was turned back to form a cap effect. The wide swirling skirt   swept out into a long train, and the pretty bodice, which was gathered at the shoulders, came to a deep V in front, extending into a folded corsel- ette in Empire style. A simple sprig of orange blossom finished the V neck. Tiny, pearl buttons ornamented the back of the sleeves which were wrist length, and her beautiful bou- quet was composed of lilies, white   roses, begonias, and sprigs of myrtle. The bride, whose tulle veil fell over her face as she entered the church, was preceded up the aisle by her three attendants, Misses Nora Scott-Power, Jean Maxwell, and Joan Chandler. Their frocks, designed on Empire lines, were made of ivory velvet, against which their sheaf bouquets of delicate shell pink carnations, gladioli, and heather tied with matching velvet rib- bons, looked very lovely. Their attractive caplettes of velvet were adorned in front with velvet flowers, giving a halo effect. They wore necklaces ot seed pearls, the gifts of the bridegroom.

The church was decorated with cream and white flowers, with pale pink gladioli and heather giving a touch of colour. The Dean of Hobart (the Very Rev. A. R. Rivers) officiated, and there was a peal of bells as the bride entered and left the church.   Mr. Henry Dobson was best man, and the ushers were Messrs. David Logan and William Hodgman.

Immediate relatives and close friends of the bride and bridegroom were entertained at Mornington after the service Mr. and Mrs. Crisp received on the wide verandah, which   was enclosed with bunting, and the guests passed on to offer their good wishes to the happy couple. A buffet supper was served in the music room, made lovely with flowers. Suspended from an archway of ivory and white flowers was a large wedding bell com- posed of flowers, with the initials of the happy couple at each side.
The bride's mother wore a silk velvet frock in a lovely shade of pale del- phinium blue. The matching coat was three-quarter length, as were the sleeves, which were edged with platinum grey fox fur. Her hat made of the same material was high at one side, with a definite droop on the other.
and the feather matched the sash of the frock. Resting on her purse was an attractive spray of pink and blue flowers.
Mrs. Maxwell's frock was wine coloured velvet designed on Em-pire lines, and her hat of tulle to match was finished in front with a wide flat bow. She carried an early Victorian posy of fuchsias surrounded by Autumn leaves.
The bride's going away ensemble and halo hat were powder blue. Squirrel's feet adorned the neck of the frock and front of the hat, which were effectively tucked in a fan shaped deslgn. The matching coat was cut into the waist and severely tailored. The honeymoon will be spent touring Tasmania.
