  The Brown and Skuses in Cork - Information from Peter Brown. All 4 of the grandparents of Charles William Brown seem to have originated in Cork City (or at least County) in the late 18th Century, and belonged to the Church of Ireland. When CMPB visited in 1987 he spoke to Canon Salter of the parish of Christ Church (sometimes known as Holy Trinity) which was at that time the largest Church of Ireland church in Cork City. Records were here and also at St Ann's Shandon (built in Cork in 1722 with a famous peal of bells). Nicholas and Ann Brown lived in the parish of Christ Church. A protestant family with the name of 'Brown' would almost certainly have come at an earlier stage from Scotland and moved further South than the majority who settled in Ulster. The Births of the following 4 children were registered at Christ Church shortly after there birth but there could have been other (including earlier) children:- Catherine - Feb 1796 (She may have died young, because there was another Catherine later) Richard - born 31-7-1798, registered Aug 8. Emigrated to Tasmania (qv) John - registered 31-1-1802 Catherine Ann - registered 19-2-1806. She was alive and not married early in 1828 because she was one of the witnesses at the baptism of the first child (Mary) of her brother Richard in St Ann's Shandon Church, Cork Presumably Nicholas and Ann Brown themselves must have been born before say 1780
