| Notes |
- 1 - Duncan Aberach b c1550 (so called because he was brought up in Lochaber), Slain by Robert Campbell 2nd son of Black Duncan of the Cowl on Rannoch Moor in 1603 (In Famed Breadalbane p134). A stout man of very fine appearance
m(1) Christian McFarlane of Keppoch.
m(2) a dau. of McFarlane of that Ilk with issue:
It appears the two Macfarlane wives may be the same person and that the confusion arises from naming in different sources. "of Keppoch" is obviously wrong, as there is no record of any MacFarlane's of Keppoch. More likely to be a dau. Macdonell of Keppoch.
2 - DUNCAN Mac GREGOR OF ARDCHOILLE, Chieftain of the Children of the Mist; called Aberach as he was brought up in Lochaber; outlawed, with his brothers and ten other MacGregors for murder 1568; taken into favour by Argyll 1573; appears in an official list as one of the chieftains of 'the House and Gang of Gregor Maclain' c 1587; k in a skirmish with the Campbells at Bintoig April 1604; m -, dau of Macfarlane of that Ilk.
3 - " Duncan Abberach took for his first wife Christian, a daughter of the ancient family of Macdonald of Keppoch, by whom he had a son who died young.
" He married 2dly . . , daughter to Macfarlane of that Ilk descended from the family of the Lennox and by her he had three sons whose descendants are at this day known by the name of Slioch Donachadh Abberach,
the tribe of Lochaber Duncan.'
"1. Patrick his heir, whose line carried on the representation.
" 2. Robert,3 a man of a rare martial genius. He laid the plan of attacking the Colquhouns.
"3. Alpin who married and had issue of whom Sir Evan Macgregor of Newhaven."

4 - The sub-Clan MacConach, "son of Duncan," or MacCondachie of Aberdeenshire, deduce descent from Clan Gregor. The progenitor of this sept was Duncan M'Gregor, called "Donnach Abborach," seventeenth generation of the chief house of M'Gregor, eldest son of Gregor of that Ilk, who, by his second wife, a daughter of Macfarlane of that Ilk, left "three sons," whose posterity are at this day called "Slioch Donnachadk Abborach" - " the progeny of Lochaber Duncan" and "MacCondach," or MacConachie.
