  My notes from mom state that Howard was born in mauritius about 1840, but he is listed as a passenger on the Rajasthan with his parents when they immigrated to Australia, so 1840 is too late. Listed as a passenger on the Rajasthan to Australia with his parents. From London. 1860 Madras, India - Worked for the Bengal Department of Revenue, Agriculture & Commerce. Wrote influential and widely quoted reports on Bengal cotton crop production and prospects. 1871 Bombay, Maharashtra - Howard was living here by this time and sent for his wife and child who were still in Calcutta. Lists fathers name on Death Certificate as "Richard Tapley Clarton". Family story titled "Who was Howard Tapley Clarton?" states he died on January 6th, 1903. Listed as a Wheat Broker on Aimee's Marriage Certificate
