    • James Henry Walter (1817-1892) arrived on board the Hygeia in 1838 with his father and two sisters. He married Susannah Garth in Hobart in 1843. The children of J.H and Susannah Walter: Frances Maria (c.1845; married Frederick Tapfield in 1868; died in Adelaide, S.A. in 1926), Mary Anne (1847; married Duncan Chisolm in 1872), Louisa (1849; died in 1850), Henry James George (1852; married Sarah Eleanor Bingham in 1878; died in 1923), George (1854; married Lois Geeves in 1878; died in 1923), Susan Edith (1856; married Frank Yeoland in 1882; died in 1930), Emily Louisa (1859; married Robert Chalmers in 1880; died in 1913), Lilias Grace (1861; unmarried; died in 1952), Charles Edward (1863; married Florence Walshe in 1892; died in 1930) and Ethel Miriam (1866; married Albert Thorp in 1900; died in 1953). J. H. Walter owned a farm on 58 acres at Wattle Grove (VR58). He is listed as a farmer living at Wattle Bay in 1867 (MDT). J.H. Walter died in Hobart in 1892, aged 70 and Susannah Walter died in 1902 (death notices Mercury).
